and How To Get The Best Out Of It
Some time ago I wrote a blog about Legal Expenses (LE) cover and the increase in the number of claims we’ve seen over the last couple of years. This has not abated and although always relevant, LE cover has never seemed more necessary.
I know from first-hand experience that it can be a minefield and often disappoints when tested, so I thought it might be an idea to go back to basics on this because it occurred to us here at Country Life that one thing being overlooked is the usefulness of the helplines.
Most people forget they have access to expert help and information and it’s only when they are bogged down in the mess of a potential legal battle that they may recall or be told they have cover.
But a lot of situations can be avoided or resolved early with the help of someone who can guide you and provide an alternative to legal redress.
They aren’t there just for when you want to make a claim; they can be used for all sorts of advice.
For consumers on a Home Insurance policy they can be used to advise on:
- Your contract of employment
- Disputes with solicitors, accountants or surveyors regarding their fees
- Accountant’s fees for tax investigation into your personal affairs.
- Clinical negligence
For those with Business Insurances they can be very useful for advice on HR and Employment issues (always call before you take any action), give you advice if you are told you will be investigated for tax or VAT, help with Contract disputes.
Please use them and let us have your feedback. We’d love to hear from you.
