Quinn Insurance in Provisional Administration

Rumours having been circulating for some time and now it is a front page news item.

The Irish insurance giant Quinn, has been placed into provisional administration and is prevented from writing any new business in the UK.

A relative ‘New Kid on the Block’ , Quinn Insurance was the scourge of many brokers who lost clients to other brokers who used the services of Quinn Insurance Company.

Quinn underwrite mainly Contractors Liability, Motor, Motor Fleet and Professional Indemnity business in the UK.

I made a conscious decision more than 2 years ago to stop supporting Quinn Insurance because I did not believe it was best for my clients. Here at Country Life we support only insurers whose products and security match our expectations and therefore those of our clients. We have never bowed to the idea that ‘cheap is best’ and although it may have lost us a client or two, I stand by this ethos.

When Independent Insurance went into administration in 2000, many thought they would still be safe but those who had claims or wanted to cancel their policies found it extremely difficult to get their money for this.

If anyone out there does business with Quinn Insurance, either directly or through another broker, please get in contact with us. We will give you advice on what your options are.
